Carla Gugino has always been known as a beautiful and talented American actress and model. She was born on August 29, 1971, in Sarasota, Florida. When Carla Gugino was 15 years old, she was spotted by Elite Petite, a major modelling company in San Diego. The agency then sent her to New York to begin her new career. Nevertheless, she was considered as someone very short for fashion runway work. After her career as a model, Carla went back to Los Angeles to live with an aunt, Carol Merill, the lovely former TV game show spokes model of Let’s Make a Deal. It is her aunt who suggested that she pursue acting instead. This prompted the model to enrol in acting classes under drama coach Gene Bua.

The very first major supporting role she got is when she played Norma in the drama film This Boy's Life (1993) which starred Robert De Niro/Leonardo Di Caprio. Then, she co-starred in the film Miami Rhapsody (1995). Carla took a break from her film and appeared in the sitcom Spin City opposite Michael J. Fox. Her other television credits include the British mini series The Buccaneers and television movies for the HBO and Showtime cable networks.

As Carla Gugino progressed in her career as an actress, she also got more substantial roles. In 1998, she starred opposite Nicolas Cage in the action-thriller Snake Eyes. She also played roles in both Spy Kids (2001) and The One (2001). In 2003, Carla was cast in the action-crime hybrid series, Karen Sisco. She has also played a dual role in Keith Gordon's The Singing Detective.

Carla Gugino got exposure as a model for L'Oreal hair products in 1999. She also played the main female role in Jon Bon Jovi’s Always in 1994.
